The ambition of the ECOGAL project is to provide a self-consitent description of the gas phase of the milky-Way from the galactic disk to the protoplanetary disks and to confront these results with the relevant observations. In the talk, I will describe several of the simulations we plan to do, stressing what is nowdays feasible and what are the most important restrictions and unknown.
